Emergency power

1 megawatt dieselServerius DrontemWhen power fails, the entire data center is powered by UPS systems and diesel generators. This continuous, stable power supply is the basic condition for any data center.

Serverius obtains its power from the utility through its own dual 10kV power. The power of the energy company that we offered are measured continuously, so that when any deviations or disruptions as quickly as possible over to the diesel generators.

At the time of power failure, this is first captured by the UPS (battery-based). These systems, can autonomously provide the server room with power. This gives the diesel generators time to start up: they provide the whole building power within few seconds. By this the datacenter power supply is fully redundant. If we have to perform maintenance to a unit or component, there is still a complete emergency power available at any time to take action.

Every month, we work one hour on generator power so it is certain that the units will also work when they are really needed.

As part of Corporate Social Responsibility, Serverius participates in the Pool of Emergency TenneT. This means that when there are big shortages on the grid, we can work independently of the network, or even provide power to the network through the diesel generators. In this way Serverius supports a stable and reliable power grid in the Netherlands.
