Serverius start using extra fiberpath
UNET, a provider of information and fiber connections is added to the Serverius network. This new fiber line is added to the existing fibers paths from Eurofiber as a new optic route to Amsterdam Nikhef. The illustration below shows the routes as they now run from Dronten the two data centers in Amsterdam “Nikhef and GlobalSwitch”. Because we use two different operators we minimize the risk of failure. These redundant and separate design for a data center truly unique in the Netherlands. This is why Serverius is the only datacenter in the center of the Netherlands who can offer large volumes of internet traffic!
This new fiber path consists up to 25 fibers. With these fibers Unet will provide their services from the Serverius datacenter. This means that customers are able to purchased directly from Unet and not via Serverius. A few examples:
- Vlan’s and dark fiber to other’s datacenter locations in the Netherlands. Example, you can easily make your business office out of your own rack space at Serverius.
- Internet transit. This allows you eg your own network with connectivity to the Internet.
- IP telephony, Pins and alarm over IP.
- Direct connections from other broadband providers in the Netherlands. Here you can connect an optical fiber in local places such as Gouda, Utrecht, Lelystad all be connected within your own Serverius rack.

With the usage of this new (dark) fiber, also two new 10Gbps transit providers added to the Serverius network. This makes the network routes to other networks something shorter and the speed is also slightly improved. This example can be seen on the Serverius smokeping: http://smokeping.serverius.eu
